Thermosets are the set of polymers which are interlinked or bonded to each other in a cross-linked fashion and hence exhibit high mechanical strength and high resistance to change in their shape, once formed.
Due to these qualities, ever since their development, thermosets have been extensively used in various industrial applications particularly insulation (sealing). For instance the radiator gaskets in your car are made of EPDM (a type of thermoset) due to its excellent sealing properties.
The only problem with thermosets is that they cannot be recycled and that's what led to the development of thermoplastics which despite of being comparatively expensive are replacing thermosets in various industrial applications, today.
